Could be a useful source of parts, or it could be complete junk

Engines without cars suggest something very bad happened to that car. Expensive risk to take IMO without seeing it for yourself.

Not a bad price if you've a busted block or heads I guess, but then there's the rebuild, which I know can be very expensive

It doesn't take much to write off a TVR and make an engine available

Ah, rain and TVRs. I tend to exit the track as soon as it rains for that very reason...

No wonder the cerb was short shifting, sensible.

It is possible but you're still don't know if there's a bust crank or even if the engine will turn over. Just a blind guess.

£1750 for a new large bearing crank, then £600 for machining to fit...

Dont have a link but my engine rebuild/upgrade from 4.2 to 4.7L included a new crank to replace the early small journal one at a price of about 2k inc VAT.

Edit. It's a cast crank supplied by Powers

To me the good condition of the water rail tails suggests that this engine has been fairly well cared for

Obviously it would be foolish to purchase without inspecting, but it would probably be worth the effort to do so

If you ever end up with any block damage this auction gives you a longevity card for a part that will never be available again, unless you billet machine a block.

Looks cheap to me.

No crank nose. Is this how the early non-AC engines come? I'd thought it was only the race engines that had the front cover blanked off like this.

I'd wondered about that, but its a wet sumped engine with the Cerbera triple pump setup. I thought the Tuscan Challenge engines were dry sumped with a different pump set up. Might well be wrong though.

I emailed the seller yesterday morning to see if the engine would turn over, no response as yet. Hmm.

If it does it should be possible to do a compression check too, all you need is the bellhousing/starter/battery

HI All
We are the couple advertising the early 4.2L AJP engine on ebay.
We bought our 4.5L Cerbera over two year ago and didn't realise the leaky water pump and head gaskets would mean the engine would have to be removed and rebuilt.
We toyed with the idea of a 4.7L conversion but now have decided against it hence we selling the engine we bought for that purpose.
Given the questions and feedback we received, it seem the best way forward is to strip and break the engine for parts. We will probably start the process during the winter.
As for our Cerbera, we are just waiting until there is enough money in the piggy bank.

Good of you to respond.

As for my question it all starts whether the listed engine can turn over. It would make it a lot more interesting to people if they knew that.
