when should cooling fans come in?

hi all! i have a 4.5cerbie and recently noticed temp gets to 100 and then fans come in! but then temp goes to 105 and then takes some time to drop to 90! this only happens on tickover, ive spoke to julian and he says clean temp sensor plug and make sure theres no air lock which ive done tonite, but it still seems same! do i have owt to worry about? oh bytherway ive fitted my stainless sports pipes today! WOW

Does it overheat (boil over / steam from the expansion tank) ?

Another thing to add Lee, if the radiator is 'clogged up', then that isn't going help. How about adding some 'water wetter'. Jools will/did have some.

Mine was doing the same recently Lee, there's some insructions here www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?f=6&h=0&t=172540 from Andy4200 on how to bleed the system.

I had the thermostat replaced aswell as it was only £45 but probably only needed bleeding.

My fans used to come on at 95-100 but after the last engine re-build they now come on at 90. Iwonder if they make different temp sensors so you could fit one on that comes in earlier.
I thought your car sounded quiet but i bet it sounds good now with the sports jobies'

thanx boys for your advise, i drove to hhs 1and a (half hours away) and got a temp sensor, fitted it and its great thanxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
