I dont know what the problem is, or whether there has always been one (and Ive just noticed it now)...

But Ive just noticed that when I take my foot off the gas, unless accelerating *very* gently when I do so, there is a clunk. Possibly even a very rapid double clunk (cant be sure).

What could the clunking be? I hope its nothing serious...

Sounds like a drivetrain issue...
Gearbox, differential.... hmmm.... could even be a flywheel mounting problem.... hmmm.... could even just be your exhaust system.... hmmm.... could even be a suspension problem.... hmmm..... as you see, could be anything, get a pro to have a look at it, never let a noise go unsorted... do it quick, could be somthing simple to fix now, otherwise could lead to heartache.... touch wood its something minor

Hmmm I hope its nothing serious. 12k service due in 400 miles but I think Id best take the car in before then. You cant hear a clunk, but you can feel it (in the seat, feels as if its coming from the rear) hmmm...

Dealer suspects it might be the bushes, so Im hoping if so, it'll 'only' be a few hundred quid to fix and not £££££ Also got 24k coming up on the clock, so a 12k service to splash out for. Could be worse I suppose, I just hope all in all its not much over a grand.

Sounds like diff mount to me.
The upper one split on mine recently

I got one from TVR-gear, it was only £14.95 but its a tricky job to get the old one out.

Hmm. If it was the mount, and if I drive another 100 miles, very gently, very slowly, will I be tempting fate or should I be ok? The thud only occurs after a sharpish release of the gas pedal, and its easy enough to drive very gently. Its booked in for the 15th which is a week away.

Should be ok if you take it easy, just annoying!!

I think if you thrash it with the damaged mount, the constant knocking over time can damage the diff or seals.

I left mine for around 1 month.
