Have owned my Cerb since January 04, and have been following most of the posts on here since shortly after; so I thought it was about time to say hello, acknowledge the help I have received from the postings here over this time (from Big Fuse to Buzzer Volume), and for the hope during the dark days of last summer when I lost the car for 4 months for a new rear end (thanks to a Vauxhall Corsa).
I also wanted to put in a good word for a few of the organisations I have been involved with since owning.
We brought the car from Furnhurst, and had a very pleasant buying experience. I do thoroughly recommend for anybody buying or considering a second hand TVR.
Not really being able to get the most out of the car with my driving ability, I then found Ride Drive… seriously good fun, and very educational. I recommend to all who have not yet undertaken one of their courses.
Last but not least comes Topcats Racing. Having got her back from the new rear end just before Christmas, thought I would treat her to some retail therapy in the form of a set of Nitrons and a sports exhaust for the start of this year. Following some good recommendations in posts here I found Topcats Racing (who are also slightly more local to me than Furnhurst). Had the initial work done, and then been back several times since for additional work. Really can’t say enough good things about them, service is always excellent, they are very knowledgeable with what they do, and in light of the size of the business their turnaround is very impressive, and she just runs better and better with every visit.
Anyway time to go, so happy driving to you all.

Hi Ken, you beat me - I though 6 months was a long time to have been lurking here without posting! And I second the praise for TopCats Racing, top people indeed (thanks Warren!)
Nice to hear more good stuff about Ride Drive as well as I'm in the process of organising a day with them (just gotta find the time to have a day off from work

I have been a bit lax I know...
With RideDrive I started with the half day Advanced driving, and then went for the full day with the Advanced Handling as well. Due to commitments though, this had to be split into two sections, and before I could do the second section the car got put out of action. Having now got her back in shape I am hoping to complete this in the near future, but still got to get a date confirmed.. can't wait.

Hi Ken
Ride drive, I've seen this advertised somewhere but have not taken much notice. Do you use your own car and where is this located? Sounds interesting as it would be nice to get some tips on how to handle a performance car without the risk of killing yourself, if thats what it is for!
The only problem is you can not make allowances for idiots who hit you but it would be nice to have proper training of how to drive fast and safe if only for track days etc.

Much of the Ride Drive training is based around defensive driving, i.e. looking out for the idiots who aren't paying attention so that you don't get hit. It's particularly relevant if you're travelling at greater speeds than people might expect, so you've got to build that into your routine when driving.
They teach you how to drive fast and safe on the road but the overlap with track driving isn't as great as you might imagine. The common themes are car balance and smoothness. What Ride Drive teach you about road driving is positioning, sight lines, hazard awareness etc.
I've done one of their courses and I'm a huge fan! Do it - it's brilliant. You'll enjoy driving so much more having done it.

Hi Simon,
Yes you use your own car, and the course is conducted on normal roads (specially selected by the instructor) in and around your area, and you always do all the driving.
I am hoping to make it to Cream, but I havn't got round to booking any tickets yet... on the list though.

I've booked for Cream, did it a few months ago. Was going to take the wife and 2 daughters but my Dad begged me to take him instead, the wife wasn't that bothered anyway.
She thinks I'm just a big kid, well that's correct but my Dad is actually worse than me!
