Oil warning light

Had my oil warning light come on tonight. Pressure was reading as normal, 50-60psi, checked the dipstick, level ok, so carried on home, listening to any unusual noise the engine might be making.
Last time I was at HHC, they said the oil warning light wasn't working, now it's flickered into life constantly. How is the light and the pressure gauge related? If I installed the Cerb software, would that give me any more information as to wether it's just a dodgy light, or the engine is about to pop?

Hi biff, hope you got the suspention fitted and set up ok.
the sender for the oil light is at the back of the block in the centre below the inlet manifold the wire to it comes from the group near the throttle linkage,if it is shorted to eartn it turns the light on.i think sxs has a picture on his,;Hole under the bonnet ; thread GOOD LUCK
ive just had mine on the gas analiser as i was doing a pre mot on it,the ns cat was glowing red and the heat sheild smoking,but with cats emissions are miles too high,
so ive put it on one of the lifts and taken the box out to do clutch baring,got lots of photoes.
I ALSO NEED ANOTHER PAIR OF 255 35 18 GOODYEARS,
they have only done 500 miles.
