Stepper motor question

Hi all
My speed six is running a bit rough on tickover and when coasting I have just had a quick look and I have seen a spare lead on the fuel rail.
I have a speed six with a stepper connection plug on the top fuel rail with no socket or stepper to connect to.
Should there be a connection, or is this just a common stepper lead?
What is the best way to change or clean the spark plugs?
Also has anybody got a copy of the software for my model please!!!

The Speed 6 doesn't actually have a stepper motor for idle control.
If the spare connector you can see has two pins in it and looks like an injector connector, then it should have an identical buddy. These were used for the knock sensors, which TVR chose not to fit in the end.
In general it is difficult to provide bypass-type idle control on engines that are metered on throttle angle. This is because bypassing the throttle does not in itself signal any change in load to the engine management ECU, therefore it weakens the mixture.
More usually, idle control on this type of motor is done by the the ECU varying the ignition timing to stabilise the speed.
Has your car suddenly developed this behaviour, or has it always been like it?

I have only the car a few weeks, it only seems to be a problem when coasting it seems very jerky.
How do I remove and check the plugs?
Have you access to the software so I can check sensors etc?
I guess I need to start from scratch, which is why it would be nice to have the software to check readings from a laptop.

Dave - it sounds like it may be a throttle pot or throttle synchronisation issue.
Plugs can be removed after lifting the black cover from the centre of the cam cover, but note it needs to be stuck back on with silicone RTV. Otherwise you'll get problems with damp getting in.
If any leads are tracking out under the cover then you wouldn't see them, although this type of fault usually shows up more under load.
With regard to the MBE diagnostic software, it is the same as the V8 stuff. However it does need to have the correct library files. The software is actually copyrighted to MBE, so professionally speaking I can't pass it on to you.
However, if you put a post up for one of "your friends" here then they may be able to help you out. I have also heard of some owners finding that the people who last serviced the car had accidentally left the CD in the car. Strangely they never felt the urge to give it back....
