Feel like I'm one step forward and two steps back with this restoration!

Have cleaned up the drive shaft - taken the cv joint apart and cleaned it - repacked full of grease, new gaiter and then come to put back together and can't get the (new) clips on. Neither the bottom one of the top one - they are ear clamp style - but no matter how much I pull I can't get them to close - does anyone have any handy hints please.

I've stopped using them, I use 7.6mm cable ties now

No problem with MOTs, and you save a couple of grams as well

Looks like you need to open this bit out a bit, get the hook thing on then crimp back up to tighten?

failing that get some stainless tie wraps

Hi Guys

Thanks for the tips - I've gone for the 7.6mm cable ties in the end

Occasionally you do get the wrong size supplied with a boot kit, but you can buy universal ones that you simply trim to length, ebay currently has some stainless ones made by none other than Jubilee:

I tend to use Westfield fasteners for clips, bolts etc.
