Stuck in France!!!

BCA and his father are on the way to LeMans but upon pulling away of a peage the Cerbera lost most of the drive.

It still moves under it's own steam but there's a nasty graunching noise coming from the back end.

Anyone got any ideas what could be up?

Diff or prop shaft UJ, can they get it LL home?

It looks to be a CV joint on the diff end. Managed to get it back to Le Shuttle (note: car didnt actually leave us standing - just meant pace was a little glacially slow) and across to blighty. It was then put on a low loader (for easy non stressful and fast transport back) and is now on the drive being taken to bits.

Its more unfortunate timing than anything, the car is used hard and has done 54k miles - it was a matter of time before something like this happened. Of course the moral of this story is to check absolutely everythi.... ah it. The moral is to drive your cars as they are intended to be built, and enjoy them whilst they are still legal!!!

Was superb up until the unfortunate breakage. Will keep you updated as to how we get on.

as an aside - anyone know how to get the cv joint off??? its stronger than a bloody weld!!

Turns out to be the drivers side drive shaft... it had sheared near the diff end. BAH!

Still, could have been worse.

Urmm, it probably is worse. I don't want to curse you here by suggesting, but while driving the hydratrak any distance putting power through only one driveshaft with the other shaft free, you have likely taken a lot of life out of your diff, if not killed it.

I would probably cast a close eye over the diff before just replacing the driveshaft. I have my fingers crossed.
