Air Con

I know TVR air con never generates a mega chill but in this hot weather I've come to the conclusion that ours is doing absolutely bugger all.

Anyone else experienced similar? What are the likely causes?

You'll need to get it re-gassed first with a dye in it to find out where its leaking from. I had mine done last year and it lasted about a week, one of the top pipes was leaking and soon got covered in the dye.

Is it best to go back to a TVR dealer for regassing, or any car airconditioner's?

YOu need to hear a loud click when you turn it on ie the clutch on the condenser coming to life. Low pressure or faulty condeser can cause it to fail to operate.

Any decent aircon outfit should be able to do the job. I got a mate to do mine, cost me £25!

Wasn't there talk of a aircon temp regulator somewhere under that dash?

Yep - just above your right knee/shin....

Some cars have a knob (steady !) on it & it comes through the dash, others it's just zip tied to the roll bar cross member....

But if your compressor isn't clicking, then the adjuster will do bu99er all !

Older cars (I can't remember the cut off year) had a problem with the pipes becoming brittle. This caused many Air Con equipped cars to loose coolant though stress cracks.

The later cars used a different material for the pipes and the problem was solved.

It's worth doing the Dye check if you have one of the earlier cars.
