The big fat pipe to the pump from the tank is the only one I haven’t had to replace multiple times, I just changed it the once when I did the body off rebuilt.

It’s actually a DIN rated pipe & hadn’t caused any problems however some little rodent has taken a chunk out of it so I need to replace it now. It was years ago when I got & can’t remember where from, I tried the main TVR parts people but they only have R6, that’s known to be dodgy with modern fuels, I replaced the other R6 pipe with R9 a good few years ago, then again with the gates stuff after.

There’s no way I’m going back to R6. I didn’t mind getting the big reel of gates Barricade for the rest of the car but I don’t really want to for that one bit of short pipe. Also they have only 10mm or 13mm internal dia, I measured the pump at just under 12mm so not sure they would work anyway.

So any recommendations?

Gates or Cohline, personally I've been using Cohline and can vouch that after 4 years there are no signs of cracking or hardening of the rubber.

Not cheap but my car isn't either.

I replaced all fuel hoses and vacuum hoses with Cohline during my recent body off rebuild, the bill came to £120, in the scheme of things not too bad.

Do a search for Car builder solutions.

Perfect thanks, I’d forgotten about them, I had even saved their catalog down in the books section of my phone too, been playing with main stream cars for too long!

Only slight issue is you can get caught up looking through all their stuff & end up with a big shopping list laugh

Gosh they have a big range, I wondered how much a proper crimping tool would be, don’t think I’ll be forking out £1,000 for one!

Carbuilders have 400mm & 500mm off cuts available on their pipe too. I’ll probably go with them as they have quite a range of different over braids, I want to protect the pipe from little teeth, its the second time a pipe has been bitten!

I think the DIN rated one I got was probably from them as I said it seemed to be fine till something sunk it’s teeth into it, but I may as well get an ethanol resident one as I’m changing it.

No little bugger is chewing through the stainless braid!

It seemed like a good idea till trying to wrestle the tank back in with the pipe attached & the heat shrink slipped off resulting in me getting the sharp ends of the braiding embedded in my hand. Still it’s all back in now at least, hope our new cats catch what ever chewed through the old pipe...

(The new pipe is actually longer than the old one, odd optical illusion with rotated pictures there)

That's a sobering story, at least on the upside those pesky rodents can claim to be true Petrolheads smile
