:hehe: these are very very funny people...

Our insurance co (who have been rather good in the past, LV) have just sent a renewal quote through for 50% (yes, five zero, fifty, fiddy, 10 x 5 percent) more than last year.

No claims have been made, no new mods have been carried out and its not April the first??? Odd... so Dad phoned them to ask "why". The answer is simple and absolutely intolerable for all performance car owners out there: the GOVERNMENT has *RAISED* the insurance group/ insurance charges for high performance cars.

To my ears this seems ridiculous, but I wouldnt put it past the government to do such a :censored: stupid thing.

I CANNOT believe that this is the case. Anyone experienced similar?? Anyone care to recommend new insurance companies to try??

As an aside... is there anyone up for a sports/supercar protest?? Im sure a few decatted Cerberas just outside downing street is sure to get the attention of Mr Blair?? GRRRRRRRRRR vvvv angry.

Complete and utter bull shit.

I've worked in insurance for many years now, and the only thing the government controls on insurance is Insurance premium tax (IPT) which is currenty 5% and has remained so, for a fair number of years now.

50% is crazy, rates have remained relatively static this year with only a slight rise, around the same as inflation.

My guess is they are pricing themselves out of the market as they may have had a bad year on TVR's or performance cars in general.

Take your money elsewhere, there will be plenty of other brokers/direct writers gladly willing to accept your business.

I have been insured with Tesco for my last three TVRs and had to renew the insurance on my Tuscan S a week before I picked up the Cerb. My premium was about £30 cheaper than the last year and when I changed it over to the Cerb, it went down by £200! apparently because its a four seater car

Yes but you've got to admire the guy - he had BCA taken in to such an extent that BCA's now asking us to write to Blair.
