Mis-fire when wet
Discussion
After some heavy rain last week, I took the Cerb out for a quick blast, but had a really bad mis-fire. Came home, parked up to have a look, but after 5-10 minutes, all was fine. Same thing yesterday after washing the car. This morning, all's OK.
My theory? Waters getting onto the plug leads, then after parking up, the engine heat dries them out. Anyone else had this, and if so, have you done anything to prevent it happening again? It looks like the vents in the inner panel funnel water down by the air-box, and then onto the plug leads. I've had a search around the forums, and can't find any mention of this problem.
And could some-one mail me the secret to getting in with a flat battery. I know it's only a matter of time.......

When was the car last serviced - or more importantly, when where the HT leads last changed....
When the HT leads start to wear out, they will start to cause a misfire (damp getting into the leads) - would suggest you check the leads 1st (maybe call garage & see if they were replaced or not at the last service)....
Official garages replace them every 12,000 miles (or 2 years), which is asking a lot of the leads.... Better to replace at 6,000 miles (12 months), so you know they aren't going to fail.....

Well, I've only had the car for a month, and it was serviced just before I took delivery. However, I've just noticed that there is no air filter fitted, so I'm not sure how good the 'service' was. It's going back to the dealer tomorrow to have the A/C fixed, as well as the MIL light and brake warning light, which haven't worked since I've had the car. I'll have a word and see if I can have the leads replaced at the same time.
Regarding the air filter; I see that some of you are running either BMC or Green cone filters. If I go for these, what other mods need to be carried out? Is it similar to bikes, where you need to re-map, or can they safely be swapped out. Also, on the nearside inlet ducting, near the front, there is an electrical sensor. I assume that is for air-flow. What happens with this if you run the aftermarket filters? Any advice gratefully.......
