Starter Motor Removal Guide For Dummies Please!

Hello

well, the starter sticking when hot has drove me mad long enough, so its time to replace! New one has bene ordered throuhg peninsula so looks like my weekend plans are sorted!

does anyone have a guide how to remove/refit!

when I did a search found this .. had mine replaced by Offord same fault as you describe ... had to wait 1 hr plus to cool down ...

Take the passenger side airbox off, the rear inlet pipe the fuel pipe from the pressure valve.then undo the throttle linkage. Undo the two allen bolts holding the starter onto the bellhousing, turn the starter around undo the 13mm power cable then pull the starter upwards through the gap.(Lots of swearing at this point!!) I had to cut the cable ties on the petrol pipe etc. whole job takes approx 1 Hour unless the engine is still hot then it takes 2 hours. The Starter is either a Tilton or a Nissan Maxima 3.0 auto. Hope this helps.

I had to cut all the cable ties too.

Have also found the place that is developing the starter motors for TVR, uprating them so they dont pack up as quick and so far, the one i had is ace!

And they only just up the road from me too!

Out of interest what does a starter motor cost?.
