We all know that CERBS are a bit expensive when they go wrong!!!
Just out of interest, what is the biggest bill that you've had for work done on your cerbera (eg car in for a service and needed 1000 other things doing).
I think that this may make a few people shy, but we should make this type of info available just so people know what they are letting themselves in for - and it'll be a bit of fun.
I put my car in for a standard 12,000 mile service and am reckoning on a final bill of around £3000. I'll post full details when I get the car back!!

My last proper service came out about £1k, but I did have some rubber bits and other stuff repalced at the same time.
Had some engine work done on the car recently which meant the engine coming out (twice in fact as it sprung an unrelated leak when it all went back in), new clutch and some other stuff done, all in £3k (admittedly the garage looked after me with some of the labour charges).
Then of course there's the non-essential stuff, incl remap and new injectors which set me back about another £1500.

So far in a year the servicing/repairs/upgrades have cost me about £5.5k but he is now hopefully (almost) sorted.
Just need the suspension done, oh and induction kit, oh and...ahh bugger, here we go again.

£900 - New Starter Motor (Gearbox Out)
£180 - Fix and fix MIL problem (Oil Pressure Sensor)

£8392.56 for a 48,000 service, camshafts and tyres and a few other bits and bobs. Not paid for by me but by the previous owner. Its now done 60,000 so hopefully not too much could have possibly gone wrong since then!
What gets me is the £8392.56 bill and they even charged for washers and cable ties

Would be interested to know what exactly was done for this money as anyone thinking about becoming involved in Cerbera's would be more than put off by remarks like that. I know it's a 'most money' post, but seriously .....
I had a 10,000 mile service at a garage yesterday (to keep my FSH) and it cost £170. However, this was for a Jaguar XJ8. I service my cerb myself and using the best quality synthetic oils and filters etc.from a main dealer, cost of consumables was about £200. If anyone pays over £1000 for routine service, it would be nice to know how many hours the garage spent and what they did. For my jag, they printed off two pages of items they checked, in addition to oil and filter changes.
If there are big faults with a TVR, expect to pay more but then we are talking repairs not routine service.
My advice is to ask for costs in advance.

I have a 1996 4.2 Cerbera which I bought privately about 3 years ago. During this time I must have spent about £15k on repairs and service at various TVR specialists. The car is at the garage at present for some minor electrical repairs, but having 'checked it over' they recommend that certain other items require attention ! I am waiting for their quote.
Incidentally I hardly drive the car, probably no more than 1500 miles per annum.

If I get a chance I will post exactly what was done but the bill is like war and peace it's 5 pages in length and is made up of £4490.93 parts and £3319.99 labour plus £581.62 which was the fixed price service!
These kinds of bills are what gives TVR a bad name - I'm amazed that a Jag only costs £170 for a service, for what is by any stretch of the imagination a beautiful car.
For what it's worth I've had a couple of services of around £950 on the S3 and Griffith and that seemed bad enough!
Servicing of £5000 a year is unacceptable in my book and is already damaging TVR's reputation which is why sales are half what they were in the Rover V8 era.

I have found that no matter what you have done it susually costs around £150 for labour, at least £80 for parts and then VAT on top - don't think I've ever paid less than £250, unless the job was very minor.
Invariably they always find something else wrong - not a problem with the garage, but with the fragile nature (cheap) way in which these cars are put together.
However, nothing looks like it and everybody loves a cerb, so this is something we have to put up with - tell your wife it costs £100 even if it costs

Paying 15k over 3 years to keep a car on the road when only doing 1500 miles per year makes me want to cry
. My first year I did 17500 miles and probably spent around 2.5k in servicing/tyres/brakes/repairs.
I couldn't entertain owning this car without getting full use out of it!

Well that really makes the price jump
It's two stainless steel tubes (at about £70 + VAT) and 4 nuts and bolts - less than half an hour.
Unless of course you got mild steel de-cat pipes which should have been about a tenner fitted
