Cerbera 4.2: how do I get the brake master cylinder out?
Discussion
There are 4 bolts on top of the inner wing. 3 of them are visible, the 4th one is under the wiper box assembly - so you need to take that off to access the 4th bolt. Then there are another 2 bolts that go through the wheel arch. You need to take the wheel off and scrape the mountains of sealing compound off the heads of the bolts. They are above the steering universal joint and slightly left and right, if that makes sense.
If you don't want to drain the clutch fluid, you need to unbolt the clutch master cylinder from the pedal box and leave that suspended in place. It's really fiddly, but can be done. You can leave the clutch pipe connected through the bulkhead. It's the connector nearest the tunnel. Disconnect the other 3 pipes from the bulkhead. One is for the rear brakes, the other 2 are for font left and front right.
You need to disconnect the vacuum pipe from the back of the brake servo. I seem to remember that you can access this via the clutch master cylinder cover on the inner wing. Also I think the throttle cable goes through the pedal box - so you need to disconnect that and thread it through the hole before you can get the pedal box out.
When you've done all that there should be nothing left holding it in. It's still a b
h to wrestle out though :-)
Good luck.
