Hi All,

Took a Cerbie for a test drive on Saturday, was very very impressed with the preformance. A couple of things worried me however.

The car was pretty lumpy on start up, the revs where a little erratic for a while appeared okay after it warmed up. There's alot of rattle and shake in the car.

Also the servicing cost is pretty high. According to TVR Gatwick a 6000 mile is 777.98, a 12000 mile is 1096.38 + 700 odd for a tappet adjust.

Are there specialists (That you can trust) in the area?

Cheers

Austec!

Manor Royal, Crawley.

Get a potential car checked before you buy as there's good and the others.

It will be lumpy on tickover from cold - its based on a detuned race engine.

It will rattle and squeak - it's a TVR not a Porsche Boxter - also something to do with a sponsorship deal between Peter Wheeler and Mothercare (All new TVRs come with a rattle)*

It will also fail to start for no apparent reason, it will leak and it will frustrate you and empty your bank account.

It will make you laugh out loud when driving for no obvious reason to other people. You will miss not driving it. You will smile every time you open the garage door. And you will buy enough petrol to fund the debt of a Third World country.

Don't get fleeced on servicing - a good indie is better than a main dealer. A main dealer stamp in the service book will not add value to the resale like it would on a Porker. A good indie stamp and receipts for everything will add value on a TVR.

But the wonderful thing is that every time the car goes in for a service it always comes back with a different rattle

and you don't have to pay extra for it either
