hi folks,

my wipers packed up when i was on the furball and now they keep blowing fuse 15 and taking out the indicators too. they were happily parked in mid screen but i have managed to 'persuade' them to relocate reasonably flat. but now they are pooped totally. put new fuse in, fuse blows. i assume this means they are still trying to wipe but getting overcome by some amount of friction which is causing the fuse to blow. its happened a few times before but as soon as the screen gets damp it usually cures itself. not this time though.

so, with the fuse blowing and the odd parking places does this sound like the motor, the park switch, the steering wheel ribbon cable or wot? a search provides lots of answers but nothing the same symptoms.

my car is due to go to the dealers for a much needed service so i can get it done there but id much rather not get charged a squillion quid an hour if its a simple fix, and i reckon the service is already gonna be huge. plus, you know, i cant see when it rains, and no one knows which way I'm going.

any one got any ideas?

hope you are all well on this fine Summers evening gang

ps. just for fun today my bonnet stay snapped in half and hurled one part into the cam belt whilst the engine was running. lovely.

Hi nervy

You might need a new motor IIRC a mini unit, unless it's just the mechanism binding, i would recommend speaking to Austec or one of the other Cerbera indy specialists first,

Its not a mini unit, it has a different gearbox on it giving a much bigger sweep, I made that mistake!

Stick a BMW badge on the front. This avoids the requirement for indicators.

I hope this helps.

I would check the steering wheel ECU just above your knees. See if the connections are ok and no sign of burning. Also check the wiring to the motor, as to blow a fuse suggests that something is shorting out.

I had my wipers stop working last summer. I took the wiper motor out* and the bearing on the bottom had dried out. I greased it up (oh-err) and its been fine ever since...

*cue swearing as you need to remove the header tank and water goes everwhere. Wiper motor is reputedly the same as an old-skool mini with a different gearbox.

Might be that with this hot weather, the rubber on the wiper blades has perished a bit and is sticking to the glass. Try lubricating by applying a liberal amount of washing up liquid or something to the wiper blades. It worked for me when mine never got further than a half wipe
