MANIFOLD REMOVAL ... HELP PLEASE
Discussion
Following the previous threads on chassis rot and manifold cracks (of which I am unlucky enough to have both) I have decided to investigate further...
I have the manifold (drivers side) completely undone and the solid water way above it off.
I read a post saying the engine needs to be lifted a bit and shuvved to allow the manifold to clear ... anybody got any hints and tips ...
I have removed the bottom engine mounts bolted to the rubber which allows the engine to lift until it hits the steering column ... not enough ... have now soaked the mounts that bolt to the engineas the allen bolt is seized... why did they have only 1 allen bolt why not all studs??
so any hints thanks ...
do gearbox mounts need releasing?
does manifold come out from above or below?
How much does engine have to shift over as I only have 20mm max to the other side I reckon??
Its now a battle and Im goner win!!
Hope somebody can help ... shame Jules is in hiding!! TA DAS

remove air box
remove water rail
undo manifold bolts (back 2 from underneath)
disconnect manifold from cats
jack under engine taking weight
undo engine mount bracket fixed to engine (nb 1 allen bolt - bitch to get off) drivers side only for plate both sides from rubber mount)
undo 2 gearbox mountnuts almost off
helper above pulls carefully while me underneath prize engine to left with block of woodand tap with rubber mallet
easy as that!
just done passenger side ... same as tother side but oil pipe from oil filter needs to be disconnected!
