So it’s MOT time, and for me the handbrake does its job. But the German MOT guys said nein!

I have removed the back wheels and can see the cog/wheel though the hole in the hub. Just want to make sure that I have to turn the cog/wheel clockwise along the thread to tighten the cable.
According to the forum search I should pull the handbrake 2 clicks and adjust the cog/wheel until I cannot turn the hub with my hand.

Would be grateful if someone could confirm the clockwise direction to tighten the cable.

Cheers
Martin.

Theres 2 parts to setting up a Cerb handbrake, possibly 3. First the adjusters you refer to. 2nd, the cable adjuster above the diff. 3rd make sure the cable is connected to the inner most of the 2 holes on the handbrake lever for maximum leverage.

Make sure the cable is tensioned, they stretch. Then do as you describe, pull the handbrake ups click or 2 and then rotate the adjusters. I cant remember the answer to your core question but you need to know there's more to the handbrake than the 2 adjusters in the hubs. That said, you'll soon know if you've gone the wrong way.

Hi Martin wavey

Take the shoe off,
Wire brush its inner surface (and I would brush all the moving parts too)
Take the adjusting wheel, plunger and pivot out.
Clean them and put a very small amount of CoppaSlip on them when you reassemble.
Adjust the cog until the brake drum locks then release until you can just move it with the wheel on.

Resubmit for test.
(After I'd done this my [German] Tester smacked his head on the windscreen when he tested it laugh)
