new owner hello but help

Just picked up my new car last night all seemed fine on the test drive
But when i brought her home yesterday when flooring her it was very hesitant until after 3k rpm and then off she went seemed like fuel starvation.
If you feed the acccelorator pedle on gently there no problem what so ever. Was thinking of putting some injector cleaner and octane boost in to give her a clear out as the previuos owner didn't use her that much hoping that its just carbon build up but any ideas.
Also only put 97 ron fuel in as garage didnt have 98 could this be a prob too.

From my little knowledge of engines, but from what I have picked up here it may be the throttle pots need adjusting, maybe a new fuel filter..
or could be possibly and issue with the ECU, maybe the previous owner never used to floor it and it had got used to the easy life
May be worth unplugging the battery and letting the ecu reset losing its memory of previous driving styles...
or I could be talking a load of b00locks!

hi its a 96 4.2 in chairo blue it's done 29000 miles and had a engine overhual 8000 miles ago new clutch and bell houseing etc

As for your problem, I would hazard a guess at clogged injector(s) or fuel filter. I have heard people say recently that getting the injectors cleaned eliminated the "hunting" at low revs.
If you're feeling flush, you could also think about getting the ECU remapped (try Austec). This should give smoother torque at low revs and more power at the top end.
However, my knowledge in these matters is pretty limited, and i'm sure one of our resident experts will be along soon to help you further.

I had a simial problem when I bought mine. The cure invloved getting the Throttle Pots adjusted and a coil replaced.
Not sure if this is your problem as a few people seem to have had similar symptoms but different cures!

Mark, run it down to Andy at APM, leave it with him for a day and get back what you really want. I messed around with mine when I first got it, both myself and through a main dealer. Finally found Andy and in half a day the car is fully sorted and costs less than farting around yourself. Cerb bits can be expensive, don't want to change what you don't have to!

I drop it down first thing, get the local cab company to pick me up, get the train up to town from Liphook station, pick it up in the evening.
About an hour cross country for you.
He is a brilliant indy, runs race cars, developing a racing Cerb etc... and a good bloke.
I drop my one in all the time, makes running a Cerb pleasurable and because he talks you through the options, affordable.
I'm down there to pick mine up this afternoon.

Assuming you're near the previous owner, your best bet is Mike at Horizon Motorsport just off the M5/M42 in Birmingham - come and join the rest of us Cerb drivers taking advantage of his wife. Her coffee and bacon sarnies that is!
Also, do join us at the Cotswold 3 Counties TVR club meets - 2nd wednesday evening and last sunday lunchtime of every month. Would be good to have another Cerb there, mine's getting lonely
