Morning all. Been a very long while.

My cooling/heating system has been sending me spare. To cut a long story short, have fitted 2 rad expansion tanks recently. The first separated at the overflow joint, presumably due to over pressure, too much heat, or poor manufacture. As it came from a well known supplier of cheap parts, I sourced a replacement from a TVR specialist, which turned out to be exactly the same make and number. That lasted a couple of months and has now done the same thing.
Got yet another on order today.

Has anyone had similar issues? Cap was wound down tight and have another on order. Definitely tank split again (stuck my chops over the filler neck, blew, and can hear and see leak).

Will post picture at some point

Paul ukkid had exactly this, and with the same brand IIRC.
Others have gone to an expensive fabricated ally one, but they're not without their fit and finish issues either.

I’m contemplating 2 routes. The original tank was cracking with age and heat. Second one was fine, but got filthy when head was on its way out. 3rd and 4th have both gone in same spot as per picture.

Car is a speed six. I’m thinking I need to spend a lot more effort bleeding the system. Possible airlock might cause surge of fluid on tick over? Also start with a much lower fluid level, and new cap.

Second possibility is bolt and seal the seem together. It may find another weak point, but will make no more mess overflowing than it does now

If that was mine, I'd drip on a bit of two part epoxy resin mix. Poundshop stuff would suffice. Sets hard. Or GRP resin.

Bonded and fastened. What can possibly go wrong?

You could also try a Meyle branded tank, similarly inexpensive as the Topran
