Not engine out.

But .. you need the TVR puller to get the front crank nose bearing out and very few dealers have that let alone indies.

the problem was that the front crank bearing also has a lip type oil seal in it, a pressue builds up between this oil seal and the seal you cna see on the outside of teh engine.

to do the job right you need to change the crank nose bearing for one with no oil seal in it, and change the outer seal too ..

but you need the TVR puller to get the crank bearing out .. a dealer should be able to do it in a couple of hours though so not a big deal, i ws doing maybe two a week at HHC when the fix first came through.

Oh and one last thing .. it'll still leak

Or maybe I'm just slow on the uptake?

How do you get to it with the chassis in front?

Edited to say: I only ask as when I wanted to do mine and could see there was no room to get into it several dealers told me engine out to do it right!

It's TVR's built in automatic front chassis anti-corrosion system....

It's possible, trust me you don't even have to life the engine on it's mountings. You do often have to heat teh alloy timing cover with a blowtorch to free the bearing if it's been in there a while though.

Can you change the timing chain on an air-con equiped car without removing the engine? (while we're talking about what can and can't be done )
