Well my heads are off. Have got some oil in water. The last rebuild was done by Raceproved - well sort of. They had closed and the owner completed it at home for me. Sealant a plenty etc but coolant getting past the copper gaskets. Time for decent gaskets.

Am hoping to get thicker cometic to help with CR. Not sure how to get thicker ones.
Apparently coolant has been pushing past the copper gasket at the rear of the head. Not helped by all the sealant. The o rings looked old but locked. Oh and covered in sealant.

What is wrong with your CR?

It’s a red rose with heads skimmed a couple of times.

Will you be taking the sump off and changing the bearings?

Very little work involved since the engine is out

Hadn’t thought about it. Suspect they are the original bearings.

Good stuff, glad to know they are on top of things.

When the oil/water pump was rebuilt the crank bearings would probably have been changed then ? I can't remember for sure but when you are that far into the engine it would have been foolish not to .. (but, you know ... ) .. but that's a discussion to have with the builders and see what they say.

biggrin A familliar scenario...I'm this far so I might as well check... I ended up doing all the bearing shells, rings, timing chain, and associated needle rollers. Wasn't too expensive on parts either.

I'll second Performance Unlimited. Got my piston rings from there and he was good to deal with

It would be daft not to refresh the whole thing whilst you are here.. The costs are small once you are here.

I got mine from www.realsteel.co.uk/ - Clevite 77 bearings.

I've got a very fresh 4.7 in work right now that's in for running issues and on testing the compressions it's making 260psi on cranking .. not sure how far you can go on road fuel before it becomes an issue ?

Mine goes to about 300psi.. I don't think you noticed an issue with mine?
