fuse box disassemblimg? how
Discussion
i have a dodgy contact in fuse 20 ....the fuse looks to wobble around, means the female spade connectors inside the box have lost their grip.
is it possible to open the fuse-board to re-bent the connectors.
my car is an early 4.2 cerb from 1997
interestingwide the whole issue started with a different fault:
i entered the car by opening the door via mirror-buttons. car was not locked by the way.
ingition could be switched on, but the starter motor did not work.
first i thought its a flat battery...but it wasnt.
than i thought its the immobilier...i used the black tiny fob and hold it into the relevant unit inside the centre-console
the red light is blinking, which i think is correct
windows could be opened by the internal- buttons, near the radio...drivers and passenger door
but suddenly i recognized that the passenger window could not be closed completley.
than tried to engage and disengage the central locking using the round fob...no reaction....
i still could open the door from the switch on the door-card.
after i wobbled on the fuses 21 the car cannt be opened by the mirror buttons. after opening the door by the emergency cable the interior light did not illuminate...even it did before.
ignition can be switched on.
when i pulled the fuse/relais board, 2 connectors J80:A and J80:B were not connected.

Welcome to my world - sounds like we are having similar issues all to do with the fuse box (see my post lower down of 1/2 the car is dead)
The fusebox can be taken apart - there are photos of it here on this thread where a Tuscan fusebox was wired in instead
The wiring diagram to identify the parts are here and can you describe / take a photo of the J plugs you mention not being connected and the back of the fusebox - I can then compare it with mine as my fusebox is out of it's mount which I try and fix my issues
We can try and fix the cars in parallel

at least some small success....the door/window ECU was disconnected over night.
this morning, as pre-causion, i changed the batteries in the key-fob (the old ones had 2,8V, new ones 3V each)
than i re-plugged the 4 connectors of the ECU...and here we go....i could hear an immediate action of the door solenoids, i was able again to open the doors by the mirror buttons, the window lowered as usual...and after swichting on the ignition i could also hear the fuel pump priming....and i could also start the engine.
than i fixed again the fuse-box and put back the ECU on top of the tank.....and after this, everything was dead again.
so unplugged ecu, kept it unplugged for 10 min...re-plugged it again.....and now it seems to work....whyever and how long ..we dont know.

wasnt lucky....today tried to enter the car....car does not react on fobs, door does not open using the button on the mirror.
entered the car by using the emergency pull cable. using the black immobilser-stick does not mobilse the car. red LED remains blinking.
its possible to switch on the ignition, but no fuel-pump and consecutively no engine-start (cranking) possible.

To be clear, you hit the black button for ignition, then when you insert the black stick nothing happens?entered the car by using the emergency pull cable. using the black immobilser-stick does not mobilse the car. red LED remains blinking.

exactly, the imobiliser cannot be dis-armed...LED remains blinking , even with the black-key insertedignition can be switched ON and OFF, engine cannot be started, lights work, indicators work, windows and door-function does not work, neither from outside, nor from inside.
