For the CFC? :furious:

What a rotten week. The handling on my car had been getting progressively worse and worse, and i eventually discovered my brand new dampers were furcked. Bad batch built incorrectly. :(

Car gets sent off to have a completely new set fitted (thankfully free of charge, else there would have been inevitable litigation!), and then to add to the fun, on the way back..... dead clutch. :rage:

(sobs into his beer)

More fool me, I was thinking at the weekend that I've had a litany of silly problems, some more major than others, but at least the clutch is intact.... DOH!

This wont make you feel any better, but my clutch broke earlier in the year (half the fingers had broke off), had it replaced & also had the master & slave cylinder seals changed at the same time.

Can you guess whats coming next.......?

Yep, the master cylinder itself is knackered.

I'd be interested to see how much you could get all three components replaced for.

Mastercylinder is off of a Triumph. If you can get it off and to a local motor factors I am sure that can sort you one out, I would hope for under £30.

Been there, done that, bought the T-shirt (actually we should get some done, we'd sell thousands!).
My slave cyl failed a couple of months ago - got new one off Joolz and and had it fitted ok.

2 weeks later the clutch failed 0 all fingers broken. Mind you the car had done 37,000 on the original clutch.

It was a pain sourcing a replacement clutch, and of course it didn't fit my '98 4.2 as the whole assy is thicker. You have to replace the allen-headed bolts with 65mm ones, then taper the heads so they don't foul on the bellhousing.

The mechanic changed the master seals while he was at it.

Now though he has it all back together and just can't get the system bled! He's done it the usual way, he's used a pressure bleeder, he's cursed and sworn and the clutch still won't separate.

He now reckons the slave cylinder seals might have got knackered on reassembly, so I've ordered another bag of them. Then he's been advised to prime the system and bleed it before replacing the gearbox, by two different TVR mechanics who both said its a pig to do.

I'm hoping the poor guy will succeed on his next attempt.

So if anyone's any tips on how best to bleed the system please share!

Did he put the ports back at 3 and 9 oclock? If so then you will never get the air out, this is how TVR do it and I do not have a clue how they manage to do it.

Best bet is to put the ports back at 6 and 12

Eeeksie, you've got me worried now chaps!

Thankfully Mike called to say he'd got it all apart to replace the slave seals and that the rest was not long for this world and did I want to do the lot while it was in bits on the workshop floor...?

So the bill gets bigger, but at least it'll all be sorted. Hopefully getting her back tonight.

Don't get me started on them, I forgot to mention mine had to go back the day after, as they damaged one of the replaced seals, putting the car back together.

In hindsight, I would have had the lot replaced, didn't get mine done at Mike's though

Ask him if he's managed to get hold of a nipple for me & if not give my car a

I'm starting to miss it.

Thanks Leicester, the violent steering wheel shake at high speed was starting to rattle my new falses loose, & the discs were cheaper than the nashers.
