Its a popular retro-fit and available from all good TVR specialists however...

...I'm loath to pay £289 +VAT+postage www.quadconversions.com/tvr_chimaera_and_cerbera_led_aft.htm

It is after-all a Fiesta Mk3 rear lamp. I've searched around for a cheaper alternative and can find plenty of Lexus-styleee lamps but none with that 3 seperate bulb arrangement. Has anyone sourced a cheaper alternative with that bulb layout?

Edited to make link work.

Or to put it slightly less bluntly, "If you want to add lexus stylee lights to your cool enough sports car then go ahead, but I wouldn't"

Seriously though Andrew, here's some links to cheaper alternatives

link 1 £60
link 2 £138-£148

Set me off thinking....

I used to drive a Lexus (`till the company car tax frightened me off )

I wonder if they do a conversion for "Fiesta" style rear lights ??

In fairness the "Afterburners" are not the full lexus style effect. These have been around on TVRs for years and look fine. Rich...

There is NOTHING wrong with upgrading your car, bodywork, spoilers, lips, tinted windows, new tailpipes etc etc...

But...

there is a lot wrong with if you're driving down the road and a fiest pulls up alongside with the same lights as you! or the same halfords rear spoiler as you!

what my view is, do it with style, and make it unique, dont just pick up anything thats universal for hot-hatches etc...

I'm going to talk to Carbon Al and see if we can come up with a light cluster package that would bring your ride into the 21st century...

I'll put some pics up later, and if theres enough interest, we could start a whole new 'unique' look for our cerbies rear light pods....

I'm sorry ash but I have to disgaree with you. There is a whole boatload of problems putting extra bodywork, lips and especially spoilers anywhere near a the lines of a cerb. Anyone who thinks they can plonk a spoiler with style on a cerb needs a kick in the goolies.

Good god man, listen to yourself

Zertec did mine (although on the car when bought). Not sure who does these now, as I dont think Zertec are no longer around.

sorry the pic is small. As you can see...they are not the Lexus type.

I think my original question was mis-intepreted:

I don't want Lexus-style lamps for my Cerbera.

What I would like is the LED afterburner style as fitted by www.tvrbodywork.co.uk , what I'm trying to avoid is the £££ cost of doing so.
My point was merely that there are plenty of alternative Fiesta rear lamps out there - but apparently only 1 source for the LED afterburner type.

Sorry, cheap joke comparing the short life span of a hamster to the chronic condition of some Cerb chassis & the amount of the cars getting written off, add to this cars worth £12k, that need £7k engine rebuilds.

I'd be suprised if the living Cerbs, aren't out numbering the dead ones already.

Naaaa, you throw creativity and independance out of the window by saying 'all cerberas should stay stock' - regardless if its an engine upgrade to a body upgrade - its a personal thing, a car is a personal thing, and you are entitled to do whatever you want with it - now obviously theres a limit too how much you can do with a cerbera due to its existing styling, but there are many 'small' things you can do to make her "yours", from new wheels to custom exhaust systems.

I think you will have a heart-attack and a half when you see what the phoenix is turning into!
Nothing like those photoshop'd pics we did a while back, we've just let Carbon Al go mad on the body (the man is a glassfibre genius!!!)... the aim - functionaly re-develop the body to handle high-speeds and efficient cooling etc etc etc.... oh and shes a whole new design, we aint talking sticky bits or cut-outs stuck on, we're talking major body re-design.... not a panel left untouched... saying no more (apart from, she doesnt even look like a modified cerbera, she just dont look like a cerbera anymore period!)

Moreover, TVR themselves redesigned the rear lights and replaced the Festa tat with separate units. Nowt wrong with updating the look of your car, just following the factory lead!

Ok chaps, heres a light cluster (all LED's)

Carbon surround, so in the daylight they would look superb on the beast.

Happy with mine,(see my profile) don't think they look Chavvy..but as always it's down to personal choice, these were from Zertec and at the prices previously quoted on this thread. The easiest way would be to 'add' any upgrades via a PC programme and photos' and see what you think? Far too clever for me so I'm happy to view peoples other ideas/mods.and decide from there Sorry to stray from the original question!

355 - nice, though you'll get to see even more Cerbera rear lights
