The Cerb is new enough to have respectability (many still for sale at £37k) and great enough to be a classic.
Unfortunately it's cheap enough to attract Chav's and boys who have to ask how much it costs to run.
IF YOU HAVE TO ASK HOW MUCH IT COSTS YOU CANT AFFORD IT!!!!!!
It would be great if all the Cerbs under 15K were picked up by people who would treat them as classics.
TVR please fix the Typhon or give me a 2+2 alternative

I am looking to buy, and yes i am concerned about cost of running, i have asked about it here. Not cause i can't afford it, but because i dont want to end up resenting a car that i am pouring money into.
When i buy i want to make sure i am prepared...i dont want my life to be affected simply because i didnt do my homework!
Having said that...i think i should buy a burberry cap too...will go with my white tracksuit

The thing is, theres such a thing as exclusivity, I've spent a fortune on my TVRs.
But these cars depreciate so much that the typical bimma/mondeo owner can come along and join the club - then run their newly aquired baby on a shoestring budget.
Its not a snobby thing - its just plain old simple 'exclusivity' - but I'm afraid that with TVRs its one of those things, sooner or later most can afford to buy the used ones.
Wheras, 911s, Fezzas, Lambos keep their exclusivity - because they just dont get cheap enough for the average joe bloggs to buy one.
Just to add to this 'salt in the wound' subject, TVR's are seriously concidered a poor mans sportscar, many I have spoken to say this, comments like 'my mondeo cost more than that tuscan' etc....
To be honest, TVR fit into the niche 'enthusiast' market, its a cheap thrill initial purchasing cost wise.
But the fact they're cheap will always open the doors to the odd cab-driver/boy living with mom characters...
As far as I'm concerned, I dont give a squat about it, I've bought new, I've bought used, I've spend thousands on these cars - and I love them for what they are and not because they're cheaper than a fezza or because its a cheap way of showing off to the neighbours... which I KNOW can be the case for many.
TVR's are enthusiasts cars, period.
Dont be rumbled by the neighbour on a quarter of your salary buying one too, or some 'chav' down the street picking one up - if you're easily embarrased by this, then maybe you should ask yourself 'I bought this car for my image, because I couldnt afford a 911 or Fezza?'...

I know where your coming from JFK, bit as you pointed out, these cars are 15k & most people can afford them.
I don't go on the Lambo forums & ask about Gallardos because I can't afford one.
Where as, if I was after a Maserati / Lotus I might enquire as to service costs etc.
I think the "If you need to ask, you can't afford one" statement does'nt apply to this car.

I think if you've got £20k to spend, you can happily buy one of these things for a year, run it & dump it
