Dry ice blasting

Hi folks, a couple of people have asked for some pics, and I thought this would be the best place for them. I had the Cerbera’s chassis dry ice blasted a couple of weeks ago. The chassis is in great condition, and I just wanted to establish if there was anything to worry about, and also wanted to re-protect with clear Bilthamber wax.
Here’s some photos, I’ve also had it back up in the air today to replace the exhaust heatshield… and the rest of the chassis is perfect, and it gave me a chance to adjust the handbrake too which has made a massive difference. The heat shield had all delaminated and come adrift with the blasting. I’m glad it did though as it was really presenting a fire risk.
The heat shield was from Chimaera parts online, John was a great help… and although it’s slightly too small, it’s superbly engineered and I can feel the difference even after a 20 minute drive with how much less radiating heat from the cats gets up to the cabin.

dry ice is always a perfect way to get rid of any dirt or old underbody coating etc.
you do not need to take care about ruber parts, rubber or any other hoses, cables, and it all get perfectly cleaned without stressing the items!!! its perfect also for engine-bays. this said: its nor cehap....but is deinately the best in terms of cleanliness.
i have seen you have a big silencer fitted across the rear of the car.has this been done reftro-fit?

I did the same with a bucket of white spirit and a brush! Nasty job though… suspect cheaper than blasting.

What was the rough cost of dry ice blasting?
Oh, yeah, I'd love to have an ice blaster like that. Looks great and is a comforting feeling knowing what it looks like under the dirt.
I also had to do it by hand, with brush and cleaner. I then also treated all the rusty spots, including painting the differential, the universal joint and the half shafts with anti-rust paint.
