Morning all, I've big probs with my cerb at the mo and I need some help, tea & sympathy, and some 2nd hand parts if anyone has them ;)

Basically my spigot bearing failed last month and the clutch, flywheel and bellhousing all got a bit friendly with each other. The warranty co have said "fair wear & tear, mate", so I've got to bear the cost of this repair myself and as I've already used this years emergency fund and 60% of next years in the last 10 months keeping her on the road I'm looking at trying to get the cost down as much as possible without scrimping (hard with a cerb I know)

I've tried Bell Hill and they don't have a decent flywheel and they don't really want to split a bellhousing from it's gearbox. I know clutch packs are like rocking horse s**t at the moment, so I'm trying to get all the other bits in the meantime while I wait for the clutch god to grant us some parts.

So I'm after a Flywheel, bellhousing, slave cyl plus seals for a 4.2, so if there are any kicking about at the back of anyone's workshop I'll gladly pay you in cash, optimax, beer tokens or tea bags, just name your price :)

Thanks all.

OK

I used a local place to do my slave and master cylinder seals. Goot the seals from Joolz and only cost £225 all in.

They are not TVR people but prepare historic racers, thought this may interest you if you are on a budget, like me.

Thanks for the heads up, I see you are in Essex, so not too far from me. could you email me the details of the local place you used? Also as Joospeed is not trading at the mo, do you know if he is still selling the seal kits while he gets his new business going? thanks

Carlow Engineering, in South Benfleet Essex.

01268 792817, ask for Tony or Gordon say Nick sent you.

It would be best, if you or anyone else uses them, to supply the parts yourself and let them just charge for labor.

Joo is on here under 'track car' maybe you could mail him and find out what he did with his old stock and where he gets them from.

Sorry, not much help.

Just to add, if you could find someone with a ramp I would give you a hand doing it. Did a slave cylinder on my car, with Carlow, so I have a rough idea.

Thanks for all that info Nick I've mailed Joo through his profile to see if he has any seal kits left, so hopefully he'll reply soon. Just spoken to Douglas Valley and they have in stock a later type slave and bellhousing, plus a part-worn (10k) clutch and flywheel for a very reasonable price.

I tried to "borrow" a 4 post locally a month ago when I needed to replace the oil pressure relief valve spring but had no joy then so I think it's an indie fit instead.

I have a ramp, you can use if you bring along your own expertise. Am currently under orders not to touch a car until the wifes kitchen is completed. Currently it has no roof

My problem is the cerb is currently in Crawley, where it was low loaded to last month (I'm in Brighton) and i'd have to get it low-loaded to the 4 post in Kent. Also the indie has been good to me in not charging for the strip down and storing it foc for a month, so I'd feel a bit crap coming and taking it off them. I know I'm trying to save money but I still have a conscience .

But now I know there's a four post localish I might take you up on the offer for future work I can do myslef if thats ok?
