Hi All.
I'm looking to upgrade the nearside rear over the next couple of moths. I've got most of the hoses, filter and brackets from pmessling but I’m not sure which direction to go regarding the fuel pump.

Am I right to be looking at this one below,

Or, if I go the Bosch route, is this the one?

Anyone got a preference or is there another option.

Cheers

Nigel

Is it the same as fitted to a Tuscan? See parts list entry for 2 suggestions:

I can't remember what one I have, but its bosch with slightly higher specs than the stock one, its below a 044. I was going to run a 044 but I was concerned it might overwhelm the return line and overpressure.

From the alternative parts list:

Bosch 0 580 254 957. 128 litres per hour at 5 bar. Abailable from http://www.fuelpumpsonline.co.uk/bosch-fuel-pump-0...

I looked at all the various options (for my 4.5), but went with the OE spec:
Bosch 0 580 254 957 (128 litres per hour at 5 bar).
The newer part number ends in 909, but I think it’s the same pump.
Very glad to hear you have ‘the correct’ attachment parts from our Mr Essling - the original filter and pump attachments are seriously annoying.

Thanks for the info chaps, and it turned out to be the cheaper option.

Much appreciated

I am carrying the Sytec 044 pump as a spare, but I would have to jury-rigged the wiring if I have to use it in an emergency as the OEM wiring would not survive, it would probably be easier to find a used pump from a scrappy

It's worth bearing in mind that the 0 580 254 957 was never used by any other car producing 400bhp plus, it was mainly used in very ordinary small hatchbacks

Another point to remember is that the original wire from the fusebox in the boot to the pump is tiny. I ran a much larger wire on mine.

Hi,

I opted for the sytec OTP044 which as mentioned above is going to involve upgrading the wiring. The dscription of the wiring being tiny is spot on.

The information with it has specified a pre filter. I’ve looked back through the forums and can remember seeing an image of a pre filter installed with the fuel pipe forming a loop enabling the filter to fit before the pump (can’t find it now). Has anyone got any suggestions for fitting a pre filter. Not a lot of space.

Cheers

There is a filter inside the fuel tank at the point of exit.
It’s a simple fine-membrane tube type, about 1” in diameter and about 2” long iirc.

Thanks for the info Imran, do we know if it's a replaceable part. Would make life a lot easier if it is.

Technically it is a replaceable part, but not really.
The tank has to be removed to get to the filter and it’s a real pain to get it out.
An in-line filter just before the pump might be your best bet.
