Recently got my cerb back from a body off refurb and first proper drive in it find that the right bank is not firing properly.
It's back at the garage now and they said that there is some corrosion in the ecu causing the issues. They say they have tried another ecu which solved the issues. They know someone with a spare that is willing to sell but price is quite steep.
So what are my options?
Are there places that can diagnose and fix the ecu?
Can the ecu be refurbished at MBE?
If I got a replacement MBE ecu can the tuning chip be swapped over or would it need a new tune? Would it matter if the replacement was a different revision?
Is it worth considering an Emerald K6?

Yep some components are obsolete and might not be able to be updated to later versions .. how much were you offered an ecu for ? I heard of one tvr garage wanting 1000 pounds for an MBE a year or two back. I get a few old units from when i'm upgrading customer cars to the emerald ecu.

Jody at Python Racing might be able to fix it. Some 941 components are no longer available but I think that's the injector or coil drivers. If yours is beyond repair you can put your map chip into another 941 or take your pick of the Emerald K6+ or MBE 9A9 depending on your budget.
Leaning towards the Emerald route atm, dwindling supply and unknown history of second hand units doesn't fill me with confidence.spitfire4v8 said:

The price offered was 1200. I think I emailed you earlier, but might be interested in an MBE if you had any available? If you need another route, reach out to Paul Smith @ http://pselectronicsolutions.co.uk/ who repaired two of my Cerbera Control Units for me recently
He should be able to easily replace the corroded chips and that strange daughter board (the white/grey board in your first photo) for you very economically
If you get really stuck I have a spare MBE ECU you are welcome to borrow to try out - we used for development when Aide was working on the Android tool - it's from a Straight 6 but should work with a V8 with the right ECU chip (I have a few)

re: your tuning chip yes you can just carefully unplug this and plug it in to the repaired or replacement MBE ECU
Yours is just a daughter board with a erasable EPROM (the chip with the insulating tape over the top which is where you erase it with UV if you need to) which will have your custom tuning maps burnt to it and the board it is piggy backed on decrypts the encrypted maps from the tuning software
I have the same on mine

If you ever need a hand decrypting it then I did that a few years ago :-)
