lifting points for taking body off?

Previous threads on this talk about using 8 guys to lift the body off... I only have at most two and a 2 ton block & tackle.

I'm thinking of putting a timber frame inside the roof area attached to the roof sections of the roll cage and lifting that. Is that a sound plan or do I need to take the weight off the front and rear section also?

Hi Don , it can be done that way but I would also give it some help where the bottom of the footwells foul on the upper chassis bars while lifting off .It is perfectly posible for one man with only a jack to take a body off a chassis , David

Why are you removing - chassis rot?
A few of us had posted on here about doing the same at some stage - mine because of corrosion - Steve Heath had posted a lot of info and may have more...

Long story.... it's a fire damaged cerb that I brought back to NZ with me (yes I know, I need to change my profile pic asthe Tamora's now the P&J of another PHer!).

The chassis's not particularly bad, probably typical for a '97 Cerb, but I'm putting in floor mounted pedals so needs a plate welded in, and it will have either an LSx engine or maybe a Lexus quad cam 4l, or.... whatever goes into it will be a lot easier to position without the body on. And I'll take the chance to get it fully rustproofed - probably zinc coated.

...and thanks David, so you're saying no need to support the front body section, just ensure it doesn't foul on the way up?

Hey Simon, yep it's good to be home in Welly... if you're still coming out at Xmas be sure to let me know and we'll go for a beer or two.
