Just a quicky - my car is ooop north and I want to buy a lead to analyse my ECU readouts...

I was wondering what 'sex' of RS232 - 9pin cable I would need...

Obviously on the laptop end a female...but I do not know what gender the connector for the ECU is.

Could someone inform me I wonder

Your cable is Male? or the port on the ECU is male...sorry my post makes your answer ambiguous.

Found a post stating this is the correct lead...

You need a nine pin that is male at one end and female at the other.

Mine must be female,

plays up if you don`t give it enough attention

and you need to take a hack saw to it to remove the 'nuts' that would normally be screwed into (if that makes sense) or it wont fit the ecu.
