Remove the 4 screws securing the cover on the ECU and the serial port is right in the middle of the circuit board.

Thanks !!
Too dark now and the neighbours wont appreciate a lateish cerb rumble.
Will have to wait another week! Damn!!!

Anyone know how to go about testing the car etc?
I was going to plug in the laptop, turn on the car, let it get up to full running temp and then note down all the readings etc and then compare to the software help screens settings etc.... I was also going to leave hooked up whilst out for a drive

Gazab,
just turn the power on and look at the fault codes for starters, if you have anything then work on from there.
1st reset them
2nd go for a drive (dont have to have the laptop plugged in, do that when you get back}
3 check codes again,
4 if anything showing post up here
5 if not result, your car is fine.
ps don't let the help file convince you there is something wrong.
Nick.
