Looks like Cerberas are appreciating

Looking about, it seems late Cerbs are starting to appreciate in value; dealers seem to be asking more now for 02 on 4.5 LW than a few months back when I bought mine. Guess if you want a TVR with four seats you cant have a new, though I am sure Nik will have a Cerb replacement on the cards in the future, in the meantime, good stuff!

It might be right about the very late Cerbs but there are a lot of cars listed and re-listed on here for a long time. I reckon the market is very pro buyer.

At 1p under £43K it's been there for 6 months to my knowledge without a drop in asking price.

Yes, it's been laziness on my part. I need to get a scratch removed from the rear wing, and I just don't have the time. And I've not exactly been inspired when it comes to thinking of a replacement.

Had you asked last week, I would have said that I'm convinced I'm going to save up some cash and get an F355 next year. But now I'm starting to be swayed by the idea of a Porsche Cayman. And then I notice that an early 996 turbo doesn't cost much more...

But I really do think I should get a convertible. Which a Cayman isn't. And nor are many 996 turbos. But an F355 could be, but will it be a garage queen? I'm conscious of the fact that I hardly ever use the Cerb, so I want something that's going to be fast but usable. The problem really is that everything else for <£100k is slower than a Cerb, so you have to make that mental leap of "trading down".

Sorry, been busy and haven't checked in!

It's a 1998 4.2 in Halcyon Hebrides (black with a little green sparkle in it). Interior is black and sage leather with mint dials (at least I think they're mint). It has the later rear light clusters (like the later Chimaeras). 43,000 on the clock, stack of receipts and history, tracker, private plate (handy if your initials are DKB, but mine aren't), serviced at TVR dealers and Offords. Later clutch, fairly new rad, decent tyres all round. It's due an MOT, service, etc. in November but if someone's prepared to put down a deposit I'll get that done so it's good to go for 12 months. I'll stick up an ad in classifieds over the weekend.

OTOH, I arranged to have the scratch fixed today, and had a bit of a blast around. Nice day, perfect temperature, roads dry. Maybe I should keep it and fettle it to make it a bit more usable -- some Nitrons for example. I can't really afford any of my ideal replacements -- well I could, but then I wouldn't have anything left for maintenance/servicing/etc.

Wife has a BMW 320Cd we use as a family car -- I could get a Mini One Cabrio next spring as a runabout/fun car for the missus/semi-practical car if I need to go somewhere for work. Then I could use the Cerb for the track...

My advice to anyone thinking of buying a Cerb is don't, because it's hard to know what to move on to afterwards...
