Mine appears to have died again, a month before it's second birthday....

From everyone's experience What's the longest / shortest life span of these things ?

Russell, is it the switch or the spring?...or are we both talking about the same thing here....

Did mine approx 2 years ago, not long after I picked her up. Oil pressure on the gauge is exactly the same today as it was when I changed it, although I reckon it should be something that gets changed at each service, as they are only a few quid to buy and about 3 mins to change...(if you have a car ramp!)

I have it changed at every service. For the sake of a couple of quid it's worth it for peace of mind.

Right, having purchased all three components for this, one of which I don't need, I think I can offer a non technical insight in to what these things look like.

Part 1 = Brass looking nut, that pushes the / holds the spring in place. (Shoudn't really go wrong)

Part 2 = Spring, which I'm presuming, loses it's tension.

Part 3 = The valve, stainless steel item which is half of the length of the spring & has four little holes at the bottom. The spring sits inside this. I'm guessing that this scores or that the little hole's block up.

For anyone who's swapped these, have i got that about right ?

I only have ever changed the spring, as they either lose tension (my case), or break into pieces....if the later, ensure all the bits are removed!

But seeing you have all the bits...you could change all the bits.....

I rang A main dealer yesterday & the guy I spoke to, didn't have a clue what I was on about, he was suggesting the engine may have to come out

I ended up driving over to Coventry to see Dom & the lads
