Had the cat bypass pipes fitted today that I got from Joolz at CREAM. Sounds much the same when you start it up and on a light throttle (my wife will like this) but when you open it out it sounds like a track based Fezzer! Evil noise, fantastic! Cheers to Joolz for the advice. :clap:

Standard back box. My last car, a Tuscan S had CCC cans that sounded lovley on country lanes but had to come off to do any motorway work as drone was just to much. The Cerb is going to do some miles as now our son can come too so theres no excuse to take the 4x4. Joolx advised that the best combination for me was De-Cat with the standard silencer. I have to say the car seems to be even keener to rev, although this might be an illusion. £99.88 inc Vat, and I was ready to part with £400 for a sports system.
Same spec as mine then. I reckon it's the best compromise between the really load RASP of the sports pipes and the quiet stock system, especially if you use the car as a daily driver.
The only thing you miss out on though is loads of flames out of the back, if that floats your boat then sports pipes are a must have. Joo does some nice ones with intermediate and rear silencers which are great if you can't live with the noise of straight through pipes.

You fitted sports exhausts with inters and rear silencers within a few months of me buying it. Seem to recall the original back box was about to fall apart. Must admit I liked that set-up, mellow sound n flames.

I have just got my '98 4.2 back from Torque Flyte Engineering, decatted (because the cats were blocked) and with a standard rear exhaust replacing the sports exhausts.
With no cats and sports exhausts there is no back pressure and the engine won't perform properly, so thats why they did that.
The noise, I think, is better. Slightly quieter than before, so it doesn't make people think a boy racer is approaching and doesn't feature that annoying drone that can get fatiguing on long journeys.
The only disappointing thing is that the pops and bangs on the overrun aren't as loud or as often!
By the way, mine was decatted by actually opening up the existing cats, removing the knackered elements and welding them back together again.

So is there no performance gain at all buy removing the cats? Id swear the car is more eager to rev. My Cats are in good nick as the cars only done 5.5k and half of that was in the last three months, so its not like they were blocked.
