Hi all,

There are 5 bolts in the bell house to block connection. 2 two long are 3 shorter. It seems like the long ones are too long to fit in any of the 5 positions. Do anyone remember where the 2 long bolt should be positioned?

...or do anyone have an assembly drawing showing the bolts?

You might find the threaded holes in the block are a bit furred up. Get yourself a tap (I think it's 10mm) and clean the threads out before trying to replace the bolts. Don't just try to force the bolts in - you'll strip the threads in the block.

When refitting, torque to 50ft lbs.

I’m 70% certain the longer bolts go either side of the starter as the flange is thicker there, but check by popping a small screwdriver in the hole and measuring depth and flange thickness.

It goes without saying as said by Gordon all threads should be chased inspected & cleaned, dried & blown out, as the aluminium is softer than mainstream vehicles.

I have helicoil sets on stock for all AJP operations just in case..

Thanks all. The problem was that it was a new block and the tread had not been cut deep enough.

Now fixed smile

Well, new and new.......

It has been sitting in my workshop for 2 year after a the original one fractured in a catastrophic event where the crankshaft broke at high rev.

I put it in as-is yesterday. I will let you know if that was a good idea in a year or two rofl

That looks very nice. Is it painted silver or is that the bare ally. I tried polished cam covers many years ago but simply couldn't keep them looking good. I found that once everything else is bolted on I couldn't get at them to keep them shiny.

This was the state at strip down and car refurb. . .

After polishing I use some high temperature clear varnish. I hope it work. time will tell.

When mine was apart I polished the air con pump, water rails. The water rails looked terrible after a short time.
