whhooooowoh! Scare

Just a little story of me this weekend - had a scare when overtaking in the rain...yes...overtaking..and rain...I am sure you are all already tutting at me.
But the over take was perfectly safe - it was a tractor - nice clear view ahead. But I squooze rather too hard with the old analogue right foot...and it was wet. Basically I spun and sh*t my pants.
Fortunately no one was injured - no cars coming the other way, no damage to car
- only damage was to my confidence (probably a very good thing) and to my girl friends happiness with EVER getting in the car again.
Just think I should point out to all newbies (only had my car for 3 months - first time in the wet really) that these cars can really bite. As the torque cuts in rather suddenly at 3k rpm it can be very dangerous...and so easy to do.
My girlfriend really made me understand how lucky we were...there was no one else around (including pedestrians).
Careful as the lovely British winner sets in!

Great fun...I was just really unaware of how easily the back can become the front...
Is there anything you can do in those situations...aside from 'feel it' earlier...oh and not be ultra-careful in the wet.
I just seemed to happen so quick.

as long as all parties safe and car not damaged its not a bad way to learn a pretty salutory lesson - happned to me shortly after getting mine and showing off going over Putney Bridge, too much right foot in tha damp, back end swung out and would have killed a cyclist if one had been on the inside of me, and just missed side swiping a bus - very important lesson learnt, too little experience, not enough driving ability with that power, misplaced confidence - ever since then have been much more careful, esp in the wet and greasy. Too easy to damage yourself, your car, and other people otherwise. Sounds to me like you are going to have to treat your girlfriend to an expensive weekend away somewhere nice, driving her there V V carefully, in the dry, so she comes back round to your way of thinking! Might be an idea to treat yourself to a RideDrive day. Stay safe
