Immobiliser not working after battery change

Hi guys,

Last weekend I changed the battery in my '97 4.2 AJP Having sucessfully wrestled the airbox, etc I had my new battery in place and reconnected.

The alarm and locks were behaving fine, however the immobiliser would not let me start the engine.
Did the immobiliser loose its memory by disconnecting the old batter ? (old battery was not completely gone, but not strong enough to turn the enigne, AA man recommended to change)
Does it need to be reset somehow ?

I'd be most grateful for any ideas.

In a word yes, if I remember correctly, remove pos or neg off battery, press & hold fob & at the same time re connect battery, hazards do a bit of a flashing sequence, all done.

Hopefully.

(From what I can tell, when the alarm has it's power removed, it "learns" the first keyfob that is introduced to it when it is re powered)

When you reconnect the battery, you have a few seconds to re-sync it with one of the remotes. Hold the button for 6 seconds immediately after you've reconnected the battery (you'll know when it's re-synced because the indicators will flash a couple of times).

Yep--i had exactly the same problem-- but when i changed the battery i recalled seeing a post somwhere about holding the fob button down when you connect the final positive terminal-- mine worked like a dream.
