PICKED IT UP!!!

Collected the car today and having done 300 miles of Motorways and a few 'A' roads, I have to say how pleased I am with the whole package. 2 friends joined me, one of them now wants one himself and the other would if he could get away with it.
I was very suprised at how quiet it is at 90mph on the motorway with the windows up. Conversation without shouting was easy.
Having bought the car blind (apart from a HPI check) it seems to check out quite well. I didn't realise that it had been de-catted and has some sort of sports exhaust so sounds awesome. Went through the dartford tunnel with the windows down!
Does anyone know the car? It is a HHC supplied 1998 4.2, Paradise Purple with magnolia half-hide. Was registered as R5 TVR and S575AGR. It had a 48000 mile service done at Joospeed (maybe the exhaust was done there??). It also has SJH racing written on the number plates. Anyone know them?
One fault occurred on the way home, as the mileometer was about to turn 55000 miles, it became stuck. Trip meter won't budge either. Speedo works fine. Any ideas on rectification or has anyone had this before?
Oh, and after a shaky hour or so, my Wife decided that she likes it (I part ex'd her Mini Cooper without telling her).

That'll teach you to ask them that know a few things before you buy...they only do 55000 miles before they start turning back into a pumpkin.... Seriously, its not an uncommon fault and can often happen when there's a thousand change involved. I'm assuming from your description that the speedo is working ok, otherwise its a different fault. So with just an odometer fault sometimes it just frees itself on its own, sometimes flicking the reset toggle does it, sometimes a judicoius thumping on the dash triggers it to start up and sometimes you might need to resort to taking the front off and helping it over the friction manually. Don't rush to spend good money to get it fixed until you've given the above solutions a chance to fix it.
The biggest problem you'll face as the urge to drive your new toy for miles and miles grabs your very soul will be knowing when you're going to run out of optimax - the fuel gauges are known to be a bit iffy!

The shaft that turns it tends to pop free. Easiest fix is to sit tight and hope it eventually pops back in. Better fix is to pull out speedo and pop it back in manually, it tends to keep going for longer like this.
Well, you guys were right on the money. Took it for a drive today and it has popped free. Now recording miles and trip as normal.
I forgot to mention how bloody fast it is. I know you lot know already but it has to be said. Closest thing to bike acceleration I have driven.
And another bonus is the Tesco in Kettering has just started stocking 99 RON. Hooray!

Take it easy in the wet, she will lull you into a faslse sense of security and the turn 180 degrees and bite you on the ass!
Just take it easy for the first few weeks.
Having said the I have used mine through all weathers, including heavy snow, so if you drive sensible you'll be fine.

I might have been having a blonde moment. The receipts actually say 'Cat to back box pipe' at £62.00 each. I'll have a proper look underneath soon or call Castle TVR where the work was carried out.
The car is going to be my wife's car for to and from work journeys and she drives very safely. I've told her to be extra careful on roundabouts and bends in the wet!

An every day car for your wifes commute - good stuff!!??
Just make sure the journey/route is about 10 miles min - any less doesnt let the engines get a proper work out and does them no god (IMHO).

)Both came back in one piece. Its about 8 miles each way, half of that being dual carriageway. I've already got her warming the engine for 2 mins at 1500rpm before she leaves.
I've got it tomorrow and normally drive 2 miles to the train station before getting the train down to London. Think I might go from Bedford tomorrow just to make sure the engine gets a proper work-out!
Do all Cerbs sound very cammy on cold start-up? (98, 4.2) Sounds alot like my race engine. Quietens down after a few minutes....
