Thread size?

My temp guage stopped working today. Anyone know what the thread size is of the capilliary tube connector into the metal water tube?

I wanna plug it after I've removed old one.

I've removed mine, and the water temp gauge and the capillary tube are one piece - I don't think you can split the two, just need to buy a whole new one!

I'm talking about the thread on the water tube end.

I'm gonna send mine to Speedy Cables, they told me they can rebuild it. Fit new capilliary tube and bulb. Apparently, that's what the end is called and it contains ether!!

Much cheaper than buying a new one.

Bud, Im in exactly the same boat...mine stopped enroute to CREAM. TVR Gear are £133 for a new replacement, but Ceejay mentioned Speedy cables to me, so Im very interested in thread size, contact details for Speedy cables, cost, and whether Speedy cables are erm.....speedy!

I just had mine repaired by Speedy cables as the temperature reading started at 90 degrees and wound round into the oil pressure zone when hot - it took about 12 days to turn around. Think I ended up paying around £60 all in.

I haven't refitted it yet though, as I bought the Smiths gauge (white faced) from Demon Tweeks for £80 as a temporary replacement. The temperature reading on that has since packed up though (only been in 2 months!) so I'm going to refit the original blue faced dial as soon as I find a spare weekend...

Not sure on the thread size for the temp bulb - might be worth ringing Tim from ACT as he does the replacement stainless water pipes with the threaded hole for the sensor...

why not ask speedy if they are going to replace the tube and bulb - if they are cut the tube and leave the bulb in place?
as long as they know the length required you could cut it near the bulkhead which would help initialy to remove the gauge.

Good idea, as long as they know what size thread to put back on it. TVRs eh!! I bet its not standard...

Would like the Speedy Cables details - I've got the starts at 90 problem too...

Does anyone know of any aftermarket twin-readout gauges that could replace the standard oil P/water T gauge? I've for white numbers on black.

Ideally an Oil P with switchable OilT / WaterT button.

I mentioned this before, I've seen it in a few racers now...

I've used them for alot of items in the past. They provide an excellent service and are much cheaper than Tweeks.

I don't know how they did it, but I got my combined SPA tacho and speedo from Rallynuts cheaper than Spa could supply it??!! They don't show the SPA guages just racetech but call them with the model you want and they can give you a price.

Whoops. I've given you a link to the oil temp/oil pressure dual guage. I know they do a oil press/water temp, just can't find it.
