Tyres (again) - help

I have no excuse, I just dont have time to search & read all the threads right now, I believe this has been done many times...
I need new rear tyres, and after being told I could have saved £100 on dealer prices (per corner!) when the fronts were changed, I thought Id buy them myself next time.
Just after decent/safe rear tyres, which are as good in the wet as dry.
The rears dont need to match the fronts, do they. Anyone ordered themselves recently, and can advise on a competitive supplier and model of tyre?

I usually quickly thumb through yellow pages, pick 5 reputable indy suppliers and call for best prices. I usually end up beating the internet prices pretty quickly when you take into account fitting and balancing. I use Goodyear GSD-3 at the mo, reasonable tyres by all accounts.

Toyo-T1R's seem pretty good for us - £90 a corner at mytyres (or they were) for the fronts, £95 for the rears + £40 fitting all four.
Just shop around. I never could find the Falkens anywhere near as cheap as most preach on here
so the T1R's went on (£5 difference IIRC)
Then again, just bought a set of 17" alloys (in need of referb) + 4x S02's with a fair amount of tread on them for £100
They'll be hard as hell to begin with, but good for a few trackdays/ vmax? 
Incidentally - does anyone know a cheap supplier of Toyo R888's??? We'll need a set soon!!

TOYO T1S the best out there, and at a good price too!
...recently had 2 fitted myself, and I managed to get the TVR fitment...(slightly different compound Im told), for £145 per tyre, fitted and balanced.
Similar to Bob, Im rapidly approaching time for two new rears. I have Toyos all round (the older ones..T1Ss?). What would be my best option? T1Rs at the back? Or another make? (say the Goodyears? Have F1s on my uberwagen which Im happy with for the daily driver)

Was out hooning on Friday with a Skyline GTR which had some super sticky cut slick type things that looked awesome and the guy (a PHer) said stuck like the proverbial wotsit to a blanket, but they looked plain dangerous if I got caught out in the rain.
As usual, all suggestions appreciated(unless its some stupid remark from UKbob

If you are going for the T1-S then ask for the TVR fitment ones...should say TVR on the sticker that comes with the tyre. These were the compound that TVR/Toyo came up with that suited the TVRs at the time, and are different to the non TVR T1-S tyres....(I have no experience with the T1-R tyre), but I do know that Toyo are no longer manufaturing the TVR version of the T1-S, as TVR now use AFAIK the Goodyear's.
My local tyre place, who I can recommend as being very good, have got some T1-S (TVR) rears in stock, size 255x35x18's. Leigh Tyres 01702 474711 ask for Steve.

I tried to use the site a few weeks ago for the SEAC,i asked them to give me a price on 245-45-16s they came back with tyres i never heard of,so i asked them for the price of some toyo's and the came back to me with the same tyres as before,vey poor service i thought.I'm not knocking you just thought you would like to know.
You know im a genuine bloke,i've spent thousands through your site,just thought you would like to know.

Just thought I would throw in the old Falken FK451's, had 4 put on mine at 277 quid all in!! Brilliant grip in the wet and dry, much better than the bridgestones I had on before!!

Ted, they did mention the PH discount, but I forgot what it was as it didnt come anywhere near the £90 a PHer said I would be able to pick up tyres for - I later had a chat with someone who said a £90 tyre wouldnt be worth owning. So gave up the bargain hunt, having mistakenly believed that with a few fell swoops of my telephone-laser-sword, Id be able to lop 90 quid off each corner
Will see what Austec quote in the morning. Seems all roads (in Sussex and beyond) seem to lead to Austec anyway
