1st cerb testdrive!

as the title says i took my first cerb out for a test drive today! a yellow 4.2 with 18" spiders and headlight conversion. Dont think it was running quite right tho as it was a bit stuttery through the rev range, and didnt feel that quick. My car felt like it was much quicker?!:eek:
I think maybe the throttle pots needed balancing. did look nice tho, and even had some young lads on mountain bikes wave at me to boot it out of a junction!lol! Im hooked! gotta sell me car now! well, dont have to but would be silly having 2 toys for the weekend!heh heh!;)

Good luck with the cerby shopping I'm doing the same thing at the moment.I E-mailed the guy with the white one today but his valuation of the Saab differed strongly to that of mine and the saab dealers.Nice car though if I sell mine first i'll be interested.

I only got my Cerbie in August, I was looking at a dealer purchase but my local independant specialist put me in touch with one of his customers. Worked out cheaper than a dealer purchase plus I was getting a car he had looked after for 5 years. Might be worth a call to your local specialist to see if they can help you out.
I had to sell my other car privately but I still came out £1,500 up on what the dealer was offering & that paid for the Nitrons.
Mine is a 4.2 and it pulls like a train from 2,000 rpm with a real kick after 3,500 rpm. Get an independant to check it out before you buy - £200 is nothing compared to how much it can cost to put them right. Low mileage is no guarantee of reliability either.
For normal servicing and repairs you should budget £3,000.

Well, some years ago I had a go in a new TVR Cerbera, didnt really like it, too low down, and too damm noisy.
Currently got a nice comfortable Volvo S80T5, did a nice one day drive from Aberdeen to London this year, as comfortable when I got there as when I started.
Apart from looking nice, I honestly cant see this TVR thing, each to their own I guess, must be or else they wouldnt sell so many.
But how many I wonder are sort of status symbols.
Also from reading this site, they dont seem all that reliable, is this a fact! or not?, just wondered.
My honest rating:- Looks 10/10
Comfort 2/10

I dont think you get it at all
I cherish my comfort maybe! every tried a heated leather seated cruise controlled air conditioned ABS fitted, not to mention the air bags, SIPS etc nice (quiet) Volvo, but as I said, each to their own I guess.
Strange thing though on this subject, most of my driving is in Scotland, and you dont see many TVR's around, the rare ones that you see catch the eye though.

I couldn't quite work out if you're trolling or not - made me laugh though!! Vipers, I suspect you're on the wrong forum. If you value all of those things, you'll absolutely hate every TVR ever produced!
To put it into perspective, I love TVR's and absolutely hated my 5 series BM with all the toys. Too quiet, refined, heavy, bland, slow and I felt completely removed from the driving experience!

I drive a Chrysler Grand Voyager every day with the kids and the dog..........it has all the bells and whistles on it. I love my car, its the first one I've ever owned where I don't look at other cars and go 'wish I had one of them'. Very comfortable, and easy to drive.
My husband has a 4.5 Cerb RR and I drive that when he's away just to give it a run every now and again...........I can see the attraction, and I get the grin on my face everytime I take it out. Its a car you have to drive, and I think thats the attraction. Cars are built with every convenience you could want but no soul. TVR's have character and soul.
What sort of oil pressure should the engine (in a healthy state) on the ajp be at idle and 3k revs? also what is the norm for temperatures? One thing i didnt like about the dealer taking me out in the yellow cerb is that he booted it from cold! I had to tell him to treat it with more respect when cold!lol!
Deffo not getting it, as have been thinking about it...and a lot didnt seem right abouot it, for a start...6 previous owners, very little service history, only the last mot cert, rip in the dash, seat, head lining...and apparently only 14k miles! mmm!
