Water leaks...where to start?

Just took the Cerb out for a spin - literally in this weather! Got in to be presented with a "pool" of water in the drivers footwell, it was probably 3/4" deep near the front of the seat. Now the passengers side, while damp, was nowhere near as bad.
The boot also seems to be less than dry.
Now, the question is, i presume it would be the seals, but is there anything else i should be looking for?
Just recently the car has had to be outside....any recommendations for a "decent" outside cover.
p.s. is it just me, or does this damp cold air do wonders for how your car runs!!!

Check the sealant round the components attached to the tops of the footwells..... it can corrode over time and subsequently leak... Oh and the door seals cne be less than efficent.

I was only thinking the very same thing today, how spooky...

My car seems to be smoother and more responsive in the damp weather as well - can't see sod all out of the window however, as heater on makes water in drivers footwell evaporate - ho hum...

You need to sort it asap as I had to replace the carpet in my car. Check the area around the master cylinders, although the sealant on mine looked ok it was still letting an amount of water in. It took 3 goes to get it totally sealed. Also check the door seal is fitting ok.

I too have gone out today & found the drivers carpet an inch deep in nature's piss.

It was the seal around the master brake cylinder last time, here's hopeing.....

My boot used to leak but only when facing down hill, if that helps.

A good outdoor cover can be got from Classic Additions, they do a light weight outdoor cover tailor made to fit the cerb very nicely indeed. www.classicadditions.co.uk cost about 140 quid. mine has been very good and kept the car dry in some heavey storms.

mine doing the same,pool of water on both sides of the car in the footwells,you can see were the water comes in and sits in the door seal,better on one side than the other as car is parked on an angle,but this is what owning a car like this is all about,i think it is called the "joys"

Must be a day for leaky cars. How about a drip from the sun visor lug on the drivers side? Dripping right into my lap! And it was bloody cold!

I've tried clear silicone sealant and some loctite stuff on the bottom windscreen seal and its stil buggered. Think I might have to get a pro out to do it. I've had enough of it. Give me a proper mechanical fault please!!

i did go out last night for a drive, to return in a huge down-pour - no leaks - but some serious sideways action (nearly full lock) and only just managing to get it back, i really need to change the rear tires as they're FULDA's. Some nice FALKENS

i did however realise my rear heated screen has stopped working? could it be a fuse?

Hi Dean,

I'd say a fuse has to be the favourite. Is the red light still coming on when you press it but no demisting action?

yeah light comes on - might get the old multimeter across the two terminals at the back to see if anything is getting through.

Mine was the seal around the brake resevoir (again), apparently the seals crack's after a bit, I'm presuming that's down to heat / vibration ?
