indicater stalk

Has anybody stripped down the steering column to get to the indicater stalk ?? mine turns right ok but wont turn left its like something is broke inside maybe a switch ? any help appreciated:)

Ooooh! eerie.....

I was just about to post a similar question.

Last week the bolt that holds the stalk came out again. I screwed it back in a hurry because I was off on my hols the next day.

Anyway, checked it today and mine doesn't indicate left any more. The stalk acts on 2 micro-switches with 2 little springs in between. When I screwed my stalk back, it looks like I managed to bend/distort/knacker one of the springs.

Yours could be a similar problem. It's all fairly easy to see with your head in the footwell. Just not easy to reach.

Looks like I'll need to strip mine out too.

Had a breif look cant see how you could reach it i think the only option is to strip it out but it looks like hell of a job

Take your time it's not that bad a job, you'll just have neck ache for a few days thereafter

Sounds like your steering wheel logic box is on the blink Paul. See if you can borrow one from someone else and do a quick comparison test before you part with your cash because they aren't cheap.

Fixed mine today....

Removed the bottom dash panel and the steering wheel. Then completely removed the lower binnacle with the guages in.

After all this is out the way, the microswitches are easily accessible. As I expected, one of the little springs had got trapped and was twisted. This was preventing the microswitch operating.

Quite an easy job once access was gained.

Now just have to remove my temperature guage cos that's on the fritz..
