Check this advert - I didnt know this had (or could) be done - I'd be tempted to go this route if my AJP decides to die !! (Oh sh*t, shouldnt have said that, quick wheres some wood to touch)

I can't see the point myself! A Cerb without an AJP? Might as well trade in and get a Chim

For all that work, wouldn't you want to put a big modern engine in it? The RV8 is going to take an awful lot of time and money to produce enough power to live up to the rest of the car.

Nothing wrong with the AJP, should it ever go bang (which it shouldnt unless v high mileage it would seem?) - then thats the time to get it upgraded. The AJP makes the car IMHO, the pops and bangs - the bassy scream as it flies round to 7krpm+ A comparitively lazy torque delivery would spoil the car. (ALL IMHO)

It's a lovely looking car and a really neat conversion by the looks of it, so big for that ..

however .. a non-ajp 1997 cerbie for 18000 pounds...???

That's what I thought, I paid less than that for 96 very low mileage v.2 AJP8 in very good nick, so I would say nearer 10k with the Rover lump. Its like all the Triumph Stags that had the RV8 of Ford V6 conversions back in the 80s, they weren't worth a bean compared to the original engined ones.

Interesting conversion, someone will want the Cerbera shape with the percieved reliability of the RV8.

Also, I'd say that on the road, there may not be much between them in terms of performance, unless you're travelling at over 100Mph. May even be more accesible at sub-sonic speeds.....

That would be one bad M.F!

When I had a Triumph TR6 I often thought it would be great with some kind of TVR V8 transplant, though had Rover/TVR in mind rather than AJP8, right little hot rod!

So has this bloke got any further with the AJP8 into Dolly Sprint project yet?

A cerbie with a yankie engine would be something wild, but the AJPV8 is a different ball game. Drove a few vettes and do admire the grunt in the midrange, but they just dont pull as good as the AJP's, I guess the P2W ratio plays a part in that, guess in a cerb it would be like unleashing a demon....

Jon you need to take me for a ride in your beast some day, I'll bring a set of spare pants just in case... theres nothing to hold onto in a chim, get a passengle roll bar fitted! I have a thing against leaving a face print on a windscreen or being sucked into the footwell

Talking about yank engines, was having a chat with dave on behalf of someone who emailed asking for some info, Dave says, if the customer supplies the engine, he'll offer a conversion for 6k'ish, but not till next year because of work loads etc... this particular owner who requested info was after a Tuscan LS7 install, Dave said it wont be easy but its not impossible.... sooooo.... who's gonna do the first Tuscan LS install?????

Ah, I spoke to this guy on the phone about a year ago, I think he has bought the entire stock of Tuscan Racer engines from the factory!
