Clutch questions?!?

Well it might be my turn. Have searched the archives but just wanna get some views !!!?!?!
Went to drive off this am and the car crunched into second, the clutch travel felt short and the pedal is kind of looser at the top of the travel. Can change gears but with a small crunch. So took my other car to work.
There was no previous warning that a clutch problem was brewing.
Does this sound like clutch/fingers?
Or maybe fluid/seals?

And finally - anyone got views on the clutch supply now and/or the relining done by SXS mates etc....?

Hey bud, its that time of the year when clutches start going or seals start failing... have a word with Paddy (the clutch supplier) and Joo (the clutch guru).

The clutch supply is a dry as ever as far as I know.

The crunch into second isn't unusual and I've had that for the past 20000 miles, but my gearbox lunched itself a week or so vback, so i'm probably not the best person to give you advice

I think these guys: http://uk.tvrcraft.com/ are offering a clutch upgrade, have a look at their site.

[Extra 300 Driver]

If your pedal has sunk it will be your slave or master seals.

Remove the cap and look at the fluid, check to see if the level has reduced or there are black bits floating in it.

Slave seals are a 7hr job, and its only a little longer to change the clutch as well.

You may get a few days grace if you bleed the system but avoid traffic jams for now.

PM me if you want to do it yourself, I have done mine a few times, first seals then the fingers.

Turnaround - around 10 days
Warranty - 12 months

Usual caveats apply i.e. it's not my business, but that was the story with mine.

Should be picking my Cerb up in next 2 weeks so will report back - won't really know how clutch performs till I've run her back in though! Knowing the approach that Dave takes I'd be surprised if it's anything other than an improvement.

Will check the fluid tonight.
I wonder if my AA warranty will cover ie I assume that they will pay the labour and stuff for this??!?!

Make sure you "breakdown" first and call them out. Let them tell you what the fault is and you should be ok.

Cheers Dave - I am going to call them from the comfort of my arm chair any day. Car is in for a service on the 1st Nov. They can trailer it there for me!
