What makes people hang onto their cerbie?

Is it love of the model? love of the performance? the styling? the understated image?

For me its the fact she's a true british engined V8 and the fact she's as rare as some super grand-daddies, so exclusivity and heritage... :thumbup:

Love the shape, I think it'll age well (big headlights obviously ). Feels like an old car in character and thats what I like.
No obvious replacements, there is nothing else I'd like. Seems more 'hardcore' than Porsche, Ferarri etc., therefore people seem to be less jealous and more admiring (basically, you only put up with one if you're an enthusiast). Bizzarely, the fact it was made in the UK in low numbers appeals too. You're a finge dweller if you've got one basically.

For me it's not knowing what to have next. For me nothing can replace the joy of driving my Cerb.
Also I've put too much money into her to sell now.
I feel like a part of the car when driving it. Never had that feeling in any other car.
TBH I would still have this car if it wasn't British built.

Even though there was nothing wrong, I got under the Cerb this afternoon and checked as many things as I could were not coming loose.
It's just a joy to own!

For me it's because I can't stand the idea of replacing it with a slower car. And there isn't much that's faster and still sensible money.

Its a very satisfying car to fettle, and lets face it, there's always some (hopefuly) minor adjustments needed! No wonder poeple get so into upgrades with these beauties!

Simon, Couldn't agree more with your comments. There's almost something admirably eccentric in a very British way about driving a Cerb, the same way you can't help admiring old guys in their blown Bentleys.

Personally after a few classic cars it was the only way to go for me, it already is a classic in my opinion but with the kind of performance that you just cant beat for the money. I think the exterior shape is fantastic but favourite is the cockpit, so many exotic motors have a really naff interior, e.g.. Dodge Viper, most 911s, even the Noble could do better.

Thats a goood enough reason on its own for me, shows its been used and hasnt spent most of its life in the garage !!

I love the grunt. I love the fact that it is rare and an enthusiasts car. people who "know" know the Cerb is a brutally fast car.

I love the interior. I love the way you can do wheelspins in almost any gear. I love the silly things like the button start and the door opening buttons.

But most of all I love the sound, the coughing and farting on overrun, and the deep boom on the throttle, and every time I press the little black button on startup still raises a childish grin even after five years of ownership.

The ridiculous trade in values oh and the fact that whenever I actually get to drive it I never want to sell it! Wish I didn't work in the city and commute!
I went to get some money out in town last Friday, and a group of 17-18 year old girls were leaving the pub. One of them shouted, oh my god when they saw the car parked outside, and a couple ran over to have a look. With very smug grin start walking back to the car and open it Was actually offered a sh@g if I gave one of them a ride Love this car!

It takes sooo much money up that we can no longer afford to replace it with anything.



...and also because its the only car dad can use everyday, leave at the station, drive back home with a grin - then race it at weekends. Someone mentioned the bentley comparison - yup, its a real gentlemans racer. The kind of car you can drive up to a nice hotel in and take pride of place, or arrive in the paddock of a sprint, slap a number on the side - then enjoy!!

Even today, theres not much else out there. Have been in quicker cars still (at a price, RUF's and such) and they dont feel half as quick as the Cerb... its not just the pace, its the delivery.

Superb cars Getting better by the day as the tuning market takes off!

Thats why I made my husband get his wedding ring re-sized, and wear it again. No way is he going out on his own in that car without it.

Don't see him ever selling it either..........and once the kids get older and no longer need taxi's then I get my own tvr.

Personally I love petrol stations, they always expect a man to get back into the car, their expressions as I open the door and get in are priceless.

Its a great cerbie community too, I've met some good people and been to some great meetings and events, which may never have happened if we didn't have the cerb.
