Windows and window motor - experience?

My cerb has caught the 'window not dropping' and 'interior light staying on' bug.
Done a search and its been covered well over the years.

While the door card is off I was thinking about replacing the leccy window motor.
The drivers side window motor is geriatric.
If I leave it half down and shut the door it doesnt make it all the way to the top.

Any mileage in stripping?
Looked on the parts list - not there - TVR only?

Iam sure its a vw motor looks like it,make sure the switch for the window is ok (its on the runner)

As for the motor - I very much doubt it's a problem with the motor (apart from maybe a lack of grease) - I'd check switches & connector blocks in the door....

isn't there some sort of adjustment for slow windows?

I've had a couple of problems with mine. The passenger side motor needed a new wire for some reason. The drivers side stopped the other day, but it turned out to be the little plug that goes into the motor was dirty.

Grease the runners and clean up the connections first, then use a multimeter to check that +12 or -12 volts is getting through when you press the buttons.

You could also do with cleaning any earths that you can get to, as someone said - doubt its the motor.

Not sure if I can fix it or not to be honest...I am not the best with a spanner!

Hoping its just connections etc. that would be a result.

I assumed it would be a worn motor as it is very slow when the weight is against it, some days it almost stops when trying to put it up.

Of course i will check the easy/obvious things first.

I thought I had a problem with this, but in fact it's a special feature of my car - a low battery early warning system!

I put the battery on trickle charge for a few days while I wasn't using the car, and now the windows pop up and down like a good 'un.
